Portfolio Rules

As I have time I'll post the complete portfolio rules, for now here are some decisions we made by poll in the month of May 2006

Poll results May 28, 2006

1.- Should we continue to buy 100 shares as a first lot or some odd number (odd lot) to invest a fixed amount in the first lot?

100 shares = 12% (8 votes)
Odd lots = 88% (60 votes)

2.- Assuming we vote for odd lots, what size should they be?

2% of portfolio (currently $2,600) = 64% (36 votes)
Other choices = 36% (20 votes)
http://boards.fool.com/Message.asp?mid=24138561&sort=whole

3.- Should the model portfolio allow the use of margin?

No way = 79% (57 votes)
Other choices = 21% (15 votes)
http://boards.fool.com/Message.asp?mid=24138591

Conclusions:

1.- Buy odd lots instead of fixed 100 shares
2.- First odd lot = 2% of portfolio value
3.- Margin not allowed
