Welcome to The BMW Method Website
The main home for the BMW Method is on The Motley Fool (TMF) discussion boards at The BMW Method.
The purpose of this website is to provide additional services for BMW Method members, services that cannot be provided at TMF. This website is still very much work in progress so please excuse the holes you are likely to find. The only excuse we have is that we did not want to wait until everything was letter perfect as this would likely lead to big delays.
Website Updates
September 27, 2009
I just got an email asking why there are so few updates to this website. My reply
The bmwmethod.com website is an adjunct to the Fool's BMW Method discussion board. Not much manual updating happens but the buy and sell screens are updated weekly with data from Mike's website: BMW Method buy screen
Board members are also free to upload related files: BMW Method file downloads
It's only your webmaster who has been a bit lazy about posting!

The Stock Screens are now Sortable
November 8, 2007
Kathy (fafar) has again helped to improve this website. She provided a link to a web page with a sortable table which made me think that our stock screen tables should also be sortable. I searched the web and came up with a great piece of code. Now the BMW Method Stock Screens are sortable.
The code can be found here: sorttable: Make all your tables sortable
Enjoy!

File Download Search by Tag Cloud
September 30, 2007
Kathy (fafar) asked for a search feature that would allow users to find files for downloading. The search feature was most certainly missing. Instead of a more traditional search feature I decided to experiment with a tag cloud instead. It's now functioning on the file download page.
If you are intereested in how the code works, check out Tag Clouds, The New Human Interface at softwaretimes.com.

BMW 2006 Conference DVDs
July 27, 2007
It took a while but finally the BMW 2006 Conference DVDs are available. If you missed the 2006 conference now you have a chance to catch up with all that good stuff.
Check out the sample videos to get a feel for what you might have missed.

Sidebar ads now working
July 8, 2007
I'm glad to report that I finally have the sidebar working. I tried to use it for ads by Google but working with them, if you are not in the USA, is a royal pain in the ass. :-(

Yahoo! based charts now available
March 12, 2007
The charts are all up, using Yahoo data: http://invest.kleinnet.com/bmw1.
CAREFUL!! Yahoo data is both split-adjusted (good) and dividend-adjusted (!?!?). This makes charts from MSN and Yahoo not comparable.
Also symbols have changed -- not for many stocks, but for all indexes. Indexes are now listed at the end of the lists of stocks on each index page. Most special request symbols that were part of the weekly run have not yet been moved over, but at least the majority of the interesting charts are there.
Let me know if there are any glaring problems.

ALERT! No BMW chart updates
March 11, 2007
Something is really screwy at MoneyCentral, and the price history tables only show prices since Jan 2007. So I am going to turn off the weekly BMW chart updates and the charts at http://invest.kleinnet.com/bmw1 will stay frozen at last week's data.
I haven't investigated this a lot yet so am not sure what will happen next.
One option, if MoneyCentral doesn't get fixed, is to move to Compustat data -- definitely higher quality and I already have the approval from Standard and Poors to publish the same charts. It just so happens that I have a subscription to Compustat already for a different screen. However -- and this is a big however -- I am limited to 20 years price history. It costs extra (a lot extra) to get another 20 years of price history.

Recent developments
March 4, 2007
It's been eleven months since we got this website started and I have been remiss at keeping up the dialog on the home page. But a lot has happened during the year. As the community around the BMW Method has grown and as the Method itself has grown, so has the website.
- Google Search: This weekend I'm putting the finishing touches on the Google Search function for the website. You will have the option of searching this website or the whole WWW.
- CAGR Calculator: Based on BuildMWell's slide an' dice chart processing, during February I added a CAGR Calculator that relies on Yahoo for historical pricing.
- Conference Calls: Also during February, we added a section to support the group's newest development, BMW conference calls. The CC section provides announcements and summaries of the calls as well as a repository for the audio files and conference notes which are made available to the participants.
- File uploads: During November 2006 we implemented a file section with the idea of providing a central file space for the BMW Method group.
- BMW Stock Screens: Earlier in 2006 we made some improvements to the screens including the ability to select charts by stock ticker.
- Site map: I've updated the site map.
A big thanks to the people who took the time to reports bugs or to suggest improvements or new features.

Suggestions
Suggestions are more than welcome.
If you find some minor problem that needs to be fixed, please use the Contact form so as not to bloat TMF discussion board. On the other hand, if you want to suggest some major addition, it would be best to do so on The BMW Method board at TMF so other members can chime in with their suggestions.
